2 Lakers Earn Athlete and Co-Pitcher of the Week
Estherville, IA- Two Lakers earned conference honors this after their first weekend of play. Their performances helped the Lakers go 3-1 on the weekend against Southeastern Illinois College in Carbondale, Illinois.
Athlete of the Week
Bryce Rogokos, a Freshman outfielder from Omaha, Nebraska was voted as athlete of the week in the ICCAC. Bryce Rogokos posted a .417 batting average, slugged .750, stole 6 bases, posted an on base percentage of .611, hit 2 triples, and scored 6 times. Bryce also had some defensive accolades by making a fully stretched, game saving, diving catch in centerfield. Bryce was able to help spark some big innings for the Lakers including his lead-off triple to start the series.
Co-Pitcher of the Week
Sophomore Drew Grubb, a Tampa, Florida native, received co-pitcher of the week honors in the ICCAC. Grubb was the opening day starter for the Lakers. He threw a complete game shutout going 7 innings, striking out 7, and only allowing 2 hits. Grubb shut down the Falcons from Southeastern Illinois College by only allowing 4 people to reach base. He finished the game throwing 91 pitches and picking up his first win of the year.
