Five Iowa Lakes Community College Men's basketball athletes were named to the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) Division II Men's Basketball All-Region teams, announced on March 7.
Chris Jones was named to the ICCAC All-Region first team, with Cody Cox and Blake Wilder being named to second team ICCAC All-Region. Tywon Bressler and Demetrius Woodley were both named honorable mention All-Region.
Troy Larson, Head Men's Basketball Coach, was pleased with the successful season and the effort his players invested in each matchup.
"Chris was one of the best scorers in the league," Coach Larson said. "Blake and Demetrius became the heart and soul of our team with their toughness and ability to defend. Cody is a very talented offensive player, while Tywon continued to improve throughout the year."
Chris Jones averaged 18.7 points, 3.8 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game for Iowa Lakes. Chris shot 47 percent from the field, 39.3 from behind the arc, and 80 percent from the free throw line.
Cody Cox averaged 10.5 points, 3.5 rebounds and 1.0 assists per game for Iowa Lakes. Cody shot 45.6 percent from the field and 38.2 from behind the arc.
Blake Wilder averaged 8.3 points, 6.9 rebounds, and 1.2 assists per game for the Lakers. Blake shot 47.3 percent from the field and 78.1 percent from the free throw line.
Tywon Bressler averaged 10.8 points, 2.5 rebounds, and 3.3 assists per game for the Lakers. Tywon shot 44 percent from the field and 36.5 from behind the arc.
Demetrius Woodley averaged 9.1 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 2.2 assists per game for the Lakers. Demetrius shot 53.2 percent from the field and 68.6 percent from the free throw line.
"We had a successful season winning the regular season conference title which resulted in having numerous guys recognized on the all-conference teams," Coach Larson added.
The Iowa Lakes Men's Basketball team finished 25-8 on the year and 10-2 in conference play – making them the champions of the ICCAC regular season.
The team finished as runner-up in the Region XI Men's Basketball Tournament. In the last four years, the Lakers have appeared three times in the regional championship game. Two players – Chris Jones and Tywon Bressler – were named to the Region XI All-Tournament squad.
The Lakers ended the season ranked 18th in the Nation in the NJCAA poll, completing the season on a 13-game winning streak.
