BURKE NAMED ICCAC PLAYER OF THE YEAR

(Estherville, Iowa) Jeremiah Burke, the leading scorer for the Iowa Lakes Lakers, has been named the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) Player of the Year. Burke, a sophomore from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, averaged 14.8 points and 9.8 rebounds per game. He leads the league in rebounds per game and total rebounds with 312.

"The coaching staff is very proud of Jeremiah for winning Player of the Year. The ICCAC is a great basketball league with many high-level players, so to be considered the best player is special," said Troy Larson, Iowa Lakes Head Men's Basketball Coach.

In addition to earning Player of the Year, Burke was voted ICCAC Player of the Week twice this season and earned ICCAC First Team All-Region.

"It means the world. I am thankful to my coaching staff, teammates, and family. Without them, this wouldn't be possible," said Burke.

Larson shared, "Jeremiah has worked extremely hard at Iowa Lakes on his game, improving tremendously as a three-level scorer, great rebounder, and guard. Jeremiah is a team-first player willing to sacrifice individual stats for the team's good. He is also a positive leader who can communicate with his teammates. I couldn't ask for more as a player or person. Jeremiah is well deserving of this award."

The Lakers are currently 24-8 on the season finishing first in ICCAC conference play, winning the National Junior College Athletic Associations (NJCAA) Division II Region XI tournament, and advancing to the National NJCAA Division II's Men's Basketball National Championship on March 21 to 25, in Danville, Illinois.
