West Named All-American

Iowa Lakes Men's basketball player Sam West was named to the NJCAA All-American 2nd Team this season. He is one of three players from the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) Division II to receive this honor.

West was the second leading scorer for the Lakers with 15.5 points per game while averaging 8.3 rebounds per game. West, lead the league in total rebounds and steals.

In addition to West's NJCAA All-American Second Team honors, he has earned numerous honors throughout his career at Iowa Lakes: ICCAC 1st Team All-Region his sophomore year, as well as named ICCAC Athlete of the Week.

'I am thankful to my coaching staff, teammates, and family. Without them, this wouldn't be possible," said West.

McKinney had this to say about West, "Sam has worked extremely hard at Iowa Lakes on his game, improving tremendously as a scorer, rebounder, and his ability to guard multiple positiong. Sam's IQ is through the roof and that allows him to be  team-first player. He was willing to sacrifice individual stats for the team's good. He was a great leader both on and off the floor. He deserves this award."

The Lakers finished the season 2nd in the conference;  and earned an At-Large  bid to the NJCAA National Tournament in Danville, IL. The Lakers finished the season with an overall record of 27-9 and 14-4 in ICCAC play.
