Norfolk, Neb. — January 28, 2026 — The Iowa Lakes Community College men's basketball team was unable to slow a red-hot Northeast Community College offense, falling 96–72 Wednesday night at the Cox Activities Center.
Iowa Lakes trailed 42–37 at halftime before Northeast pulled away in the second half, outscoring the Lakers 54–35 to secure the home victory. Northeast shot an efficient 66.7 percent from the field after the break and controlled the paint throughout the contest.
Lakers' Offensive Leaders
Sophomore guard Jermaine Freeman led Iowa Lakes with a team-high 22 points on 9-of-17 shooting while adding three steals in 32 minutes. Cooper Harris provided a strong spark off the bench, finishing with 16 points on 6-of-8 shooting, including four three-pointers.
Jack Wadlington added 13 points and a team-high four assists, while Steven Martinez chipped in eight points. Timothy Ofesi contributed five points and five rebounds in the post.
Team Performance
Iowa Lakes shot 45.2 percent from the field and 42.9 percent from three-point range (9-of-21). The Lakers finished with 26 rebounds, forced 13 turnovers, and scored 22 points off those miscues. Northeast held a significant advantage in the paint, outscoring Iowa Lakes 68–28, and won the rebounding battle 41–26.
Northeast was led by Ryan Huston, who poured in 32 points on 14-of-16 shooting, and Johanes Piscikas, who added 29 points and five three-pointers. The pair combined for 61 of Northeast's 96 points.
