Smith Finishes T-7

Iowa Lakes traveled 8 men to Mason City, IA. The NIACC Spring Invitational was held at Highland Park GC. The 18-hole event featured four ICCAC teams. Iowa Central blistered the course with a 278 (-10), earning 1st place. NIACC finished in 2nd with a 286 (-2), Iowa Lakes in 3rd with 300 (+12), and Hawkeye close behind with 302 (+14). Teammates Eric Zuniga and Francis Lockwood (of Iowa Central) carded impressive rounds of 66 (-6) and tied for Medalist. Garret Ham (NIACC) finished in 3rd with a 69. 

 

Freshman Zakyus Smith posted a career low 73 to lead the Lakers. Adrien Pradaut and Drew Parsons carded rounds of 75. Nate Panka had the final counting score with a 77. Additional results below:

 

"I'm happy to see our freshmen find some confidence. Individually, everyone has caught fire throughout the year, but we can't seem to get 4-5 guys to do it on the same day. Small mistakes told the story today," said Coach Myers. "Whispering Creek is a course that demands maximum focus with each shot. We need to ramp up the focus between now and Districts if we want any chance at hanging with the North Plains District competition."
