TRITONS TAKE DOWN LAKERS IN OT

SPENCER- The ILCC Men's soccer team suffered their first loss of the season 2-1 in overtime at home to the Iowa Central Tritons. The Lakers came into the game undefeated and ranked #5 in the country.

After missing multiple opportunities in the first twenty minutes of the game, the Lakers would finally get on the scoreboard in the 30th minute when freshmen Jason Dyer would cross a ball into the Triton penalty box which was then deflected into the goal by an Iowa Central defender. The Lakers would lead heading into halftime.

The second half started with more of the Lakers peppering the Central goal but unable to finish their chances. The Tritons would equalize in the 75th-minute courtesy of Sophomore forward Kouadio Koffi. Koffi's goal would send the game into overtime.

It only took three minutes into the first overtime for the Tritons to find the game-winner, when sophomore Recardo Wleh scored a first-time volley outside of the Laker box. Giving the Lakers their first loss of the season and the Triton's second win of the season.

 

The Laker's next game will be Monday, April 19th as they travel to Ottumwa, Iowa to take on Indian Hills Community College.
