The post-season for the NJCAA Division II men's soccer starts Sunday October 26th. The Lakers ended as the ICCAC champions, earning them the #1 overall seed for the Region 11 tournament. By earning the #1 seed, the Lakers will have a double bye and will play in Spencer on October 29th at 5:30 pm.
The Lakers finished the season 10-5-2 overall and 7-2 in conference. Leading the scoring for the Lakers is freshmen Sharif Nata N'tcha (7), Jugene Wessels (7), and sophomore Florent Lefebvre (6).
Coach MacRae had this to say about the Region 11 tournament, "Our conference once again didn't disappoint — it's been incredibly competitive from start to finish. This has probably been my most challenging season as head coach at Iowa Lakes, but with a top staff in Bryan, Jesse, Nick and Garrett, we've navigated it with real unity and clarity. Bryan has been a brilliant assistant; we've spent countless hours discussing lineups, systems, and ways to adapt. Those conversations have been pivotal in shaping the way we play. Our style has evolved this year — we've tried to be brave, to control games in different ways, and the credit goes to the players for completely buying in. They've trusted the process, embraced the work, and that's what's allowed us to keep progressing. Our leadership group deserves huge credit as well. They've set standards every single day and helped steer the group when it mattered most.
To win the conference regular-season title is a massive achievement and one we're proud of, but we're also aware that the job isn't done. The group is grounded, hungry, and knows there's more to achieve. We'll recover, prepare properly, and focus everything on what's next. Most likely, we'll face Northeast in the semifinal — a fixture that feels like a national tournament match within the regional tournament itself. We've built a great history together, with us winning the national title in 2023 and them lifting it in 2024. It's a matchup of two proud programs that know each other well. We'll look closely at their strengths and weaknesses and make sure we're ready to impose our game. It should be another brilliant occasion."
