Iowa Lakes Community College Head Coach Katie Larson announced the signing of Emily Owen to the 2017-2018 recruiting class. Emily is the daughter of John and Kim Owen and played for the Lincoln High School Zebras.
"Emily will not only be a great addition to our softball program, but also a perfect addition to our entire campus. She is a young lady with a ton of energy, drive, and hard work," commented Larson.
In her season with the California Legends, Emily owned a .483 batting average and a .538 on base percentage. She recorded 28 hits, including; 6 doubles, 2 triples, and 1 homerun. She also drove in 19 runs. Defensively, she recorded 38 assists and 22 putouts during the season.
"We are extremely excited to have such a versatile athlete in Emily coming to be a Laker next year," Larson said of Owen. "She has played many seasons both in the grass and on the dirt, which will allow us to keep her strong bat in the lineup. Since we will be graduating the middle of our lineup, we look for Emily to take over one of those spots. Her attitude and presence will push to make her team better the minute she steps onto campus. We cannot wait to see what Emily can do in a Laker uniform!"
