Where Are They Now?- Morgan Davis

Our next softball player to catch up with is Morgan Davis. Morgan is originally from Lynwood, Washington where she graduated from Bothell High School with 500 other students. She decided that Iowa Lakes was the place for her because she loved the small town atmosphere. While she visited Iowa Lakes, she felt as though everybody truly cared about her. The girls she was going to play with, the professors she was going to be learning from, and the support staff she would be leaning on all made her feel as though they cared about her success. Morgan was also very excited to be joining such a competitive program. She felt as though Iowa Lakes Softball was a program that was going to challenge her and help her grow as an athlete.

Morgan attended Iowa Lakes from 2008-2010, where she played outfield for the Lakers. During her time here, Morgan helped the 2010 team to a 3rd place finish at the National Tournament. She also helped the team break the following single season team records: games (72), wins (61), hits (802), runs (582), RBI's (512), doubles (181), stolen bases (228), and batting average (.400). She completed her two years with a .370 batting average. She had 81 hits, including 24 doubles, 2 triples, and 7 homeruns. She drove in 51 runs and scored 72 times herself. She was awarded All-Region Honorable Mention her sophomore year. Morgan was also inducted into the Iowa Lakes Athletics Hall of Fame this past January with the 2010 softball team.

One of Morgan's favorite things about Iowa Lakes was spending time with her teammates. She can remember on their days off everybody piling into cars and getting tattoos or piercings. Every person would cram into the tattoo shop and comfort each other as each got a tattoo or piercing. Morgan also loved the rivalry games within the conference. She knew that every time she put on her jersey that the team would have to play a great game to win. Playing Iowa Central and Kirkwood were some of her favorite games to be a part of.

After graduating from Iowa Lakes, Morgan attended Briar Cliff University to continue her athletic and academic careers. She completed her Bachelor's of Social Work at Briar Cliff.

Morgan currently lives in Sioux City, Iowa. She works at Jackson Recovery Center as a case manager for a grant through the local domestic violence shelter. She provides substance abuse services to the survivors living in the shelter. She just recently completed her Master's of Science in Psychology with a specialization in Sports Psychology. She has provided some of her sports psychology skills to the Iowa Lakes softball team the past couple of years.

Morgan had this to say to current and future Iowa Lakes softball players, "Enjoy these moments with your coaches and teammates. These are the days and moments you will never forget. Also, play each game with everything you have. You can never go back and do it again."
