Ashley Silva to Play at Iowa Lakes

Iowa Lakes Community College Head Coach Katie Larson announced the signing of Ashley Silva to the 2017-2018 recruiting class. Ashley is the daughter of Monica Benitez and Joe Garcia and played for the John F. Kennedy High School Cougars.

"We welcome Ashley Silva and her family to our Iowa Lakes softball family today," said Larson. "Her personality, work ethic, and love for the game are all traits that we want future Laker softball players to exemplify."

Ashley is a 1st baseman/outfielder from Pacoima, California. In her senior season, she batted .633 with 19 hits, including 1 double, 1 triple, and 1 homerun. She posted a very impressive on base percentage of .711.

"Ashley will be joining a very strong and versatile recruiting class. Her strong bat is something that we were looking for to replace in the middle of our lineup. Her ability to drive the ball to the outfield alleys will allow her to be very successful in this conference. We are very excited to get Ashley on campus and watch her grow. Keep your eyes on this young lady, because she will do great things both on and off the field here at Iowa Lakes." commented Coach Larson.
