As the 2020-2021 regular season comes to a close, the Lakers look to continue their postseason as the #4 seed in the NJCAA Region XI-A Tournament. The Lakers will face the #7 seeded Northeast Hawks Saturday May 8th at 12 pm in Boone, IA.

The Lakers finished the season with a record of 22-20. Players to highlight this season would be Lexi Chase, Eliya Johnson, and Kailey Maksim. Freshman Lexi Chase is batting .462 with a .724 slugging percentage and just 7 strikeouts on the year. Chase is top 5 in the conference in batting average and wins.

Head coach Katie King says, "The most impressive thing is Lexi is not only getting it done in the box, but also in the pitchers circle." Chase has 16 wins for the Lakers and a 6.92 K/7 inning ratio. She has allowed just 21 free bases in 148.2 innings pitched.

Freshman Eliya Johnson is batting .426 with 7 homeruns.

Kailey Maksim is among the top 10 in the ICCAC for homeruns with 14 on the season.

The last time meeting, Iowa Lakes came out with the win over Northeast in all four games. Coach King concluded by saying, "Northeast is a good team. They go on spurts where they swing the bat extremely well and can put up runs. As a team we just need to play our game. We need to execute the little things and win the battle at the plate."

"Overall, we like the bracket we are in. We believe that we match up with both teams very well and if we play the game the way that we want to, that we will walk out of there with a Regional Championship title. Have fun and honor the game every pitch and we will have a great weekend," commented Coach King.
