Iowa Lakes Community College softball player, Katie Kvigne, was awarded her second Iowa Community College Athletic Association Pitcher of the Week award of the season. This was awarded to her based on her performance between March 16th-23rd.
Kvigne was spectacular on the mound this week going 3-0 and allowing six runs, four earned, giving her a 1.5 ERA. She allowed fifteen hits, while striking out nineteen batters. Kvigne leads the conference in wins with twelve. She is also second in innings pitched (83.2), third in WHIP (1.01), fourth in the conference in ERA (1.45), and fourth in strikeouts (77).
"I am thankful to have received pitcher of the week, but this would not be possible without the support of my teammates. My teammates are a big part of my craft, and they always have my back, so I feel at ease when in the circle to let my defense work as much as me. As we continue this season, we have a couple of adjustments to make on the offensive side of the game, but I have no worries that we will make those modifications and get stronger as a whole. I want to thank my family, friends, and coaches for their constant support! Lastly, I give all the glory to God as he has given me such an amazing gift and skill that I can use to glorify him."
Kvigne's best game came against Hawkeye Community College, where the Lakers earned a 2-1 victory. She allowed one earned run on three hits, while striking out seven.
"It has been awesome to watch Katie play softball this year. She has a passion for the game that allows her to be successful. She demands excellence from herself and her teammates and that is why you see her continue to receive these awards. It will be a lot of fun to see her, and her teammates finish this season and see how far they can go," commented Coach King.
