Iowa Lakes women's basketball freshman, Madison Hough, has committed to continue her academic and athletic career at Briar Cliff University in Sioux City, IA.
Madison Hough is from Graettinger, IA where she graduated valedictorian of her class from Graettinger-Terril High School. Hough has always been heavily involved in student activities from her time in high school all the way to her time at Iowa Lakes and looks to continue in her next phase at Briar Cliff University. On her high school team, she was selected as 1st team all-conference, All-tournament team, and selected to play in Iowa Senior All Star Basketball Game. In her senior year, she averaged 20 points per game, scored 472 on the season, and had a total of 1,327 career points.
"I have really enjoyed coaching Madison in her time at Iowa Lakes. Growing up so close she understands what Iowa Lakes is all about. She's been a great representative for our college and women's basketball team. She is a very driven young lady and I know she will succeed in her next journey," commented Coach Martin.
"Iowa Lakes has been a great transition for me from high school to the collegiate level. Everyone here has helped to teach me the skills to not only be successful at my next institution, but to be successful in life as well. I have really enjoyed my time at Iowa Lakes and am thankful for everyone here who has helped me." Commented Hough.
Since being at Iowa Lakes, Hough has joined the Jazz/Pep Band and Laker Life, became a student ambassador, and excelled on the basketball court. A little over halfway through the season, Hough is averaging 14.2 points per game, 3.5 rebounds per game, and 2.2 assists per game. Hough plans to double major in Elementary Education and Special Education with certification to teach in Catholic schools and will earn her AA Transfer Degree from Iowa Lakes this spring.
Hough is looking forward to her future at Briar Cliff, "What I am excited about most for attending Briar Cliff is continuing my basketball career and furthering my education. I am also excited for the opportunities they have on campus to continue my religious journey."
