The Iowa Lakes Women's Basketball team defeated Dordt JV 79-41. The Lakers got off to a commanding lead with an 11-0 run. A swarming defensive team effort and a hot start from Brielle Bartelt who scored the game's first 11 points set the tone for the remainder of the game. The Lakers finished with four scorers in double digits. Bartelt scored a game high 24 points, Ihari Oromo scored 14 points, and Jasmine Jones and Vantaya Johnson each with 10 points.
"I really liked our defensive pressure tonight. We got a lot of tipped balls and hands in the passing lanes. I thought we played together as a team and really moved the basketball on the offensive end. A lot of positives and excited to get back to practice," commented Coach Martin.
The Lakers are 1-0 on the season. The Lakers travel to Overland Park, KS for the Johnson County Classic where they will play two games this weekend. Friday, November 11th the Lakers take on Fort Scott CC at 5:00pm and on Saturday, November 12th they play Johnson County CC at 12:00pm. The Lakers return to play at home on Tuesday, November 15th at 5:30pm vs Northwestern JV.
