The Iowa Lakes Wrestling team is looking forward to getting started this season with new head coach Sean Boyle.

Looking back at the 2020-2021 season, the Iowa Lakes Wrestling Team finished 16th at the National Tournament. Two wrestlers earned All-American Honors with Mitchell Williamson earning the national title at 285lbs, and the other All-American, Massoma Endene, finishing 7th for 174lbs. Iowa Lakes Wrestling had three athletes move on to the next level. Many new faces will be expected to step in and perform at the national level.

Iowa Lakes will have several new faces in the lineup this year and will look to find ways for them to contribute.

The coaching staff feels very confident in the abilities of the newcomers, "We look to three of our lighter guys, Brenden Lovelace (125), Tyrick Clay (133), and Jonathan Ramirez (141) amongst a talented group of freshmen to continue to grow and make a difference for us here as the year progresses. We see a great deal of depth in the middle of our lineup with Dontae Johnson, Dominique Johnson, Bakr Khaleel, and Cael Langford all battling for a chance to represent the Lakers."

Head Coach Sean Boyle is very hopeful that the solid core of returners alongside eager freshmen can continue to bring success to the wrestling program.

The Lakers will begin their season November 3rd at Minnesota West in a dual meet at 6:00pm. Their first home competition is November 10th vs Ellsworth Community College at 7:00pm.
