The Iowa Lakes wrestling team battled North Iowa Area Community College on Wednesday night, earning several strong individual victories despite a competitive overall dual. "We're making steady progress," Coach Meyer said. "Penn, Range, Spears, and McCarty all stepped up big for us, but what I'm most encouraged by is the growth we're seeing across the board. We're heading in the right direction."
At 149 pounds, William Penn delivered one of the night's biggest highlights, dominating his opponent with a 17-0 technical fall in just 4:48 to put the Lakers on the board.
Iowa Lakes added to its momentum in the upper weights. At 184, Jacob Range secured a clutch win with a fall at 6:36, continuing his streak of aggressive performances.
Following him, Damien Spears controlled his match at 197 pounds from start to finish, earning an 11-0 major decision.
Heavyweight Lincoln McCarty closed out the night with a solid 6-1 decision, showcasing poise and control to lock in the Lakers' third straight victory to end the dual.
Although NIACC claimed the overall team score, the Lakers demonstrated clear growth, toughness, and several standout performances that continue to propel the program forward.
