Corey Meyer is entering his third year as the Head Coach of the Men's Wrestling Program. Meyer is an accomplished wrestling coach with over 10 years of experience developing athletes at the High School, NJCAA, and NCAA DIII levels. Known for his commitment to building strong fundamentals, discipline, and character, Meyer has guided athletes to succeed both on and off the mat. Meyer has demonstrated success at every level throughout his coaching career, producing state qualifiers and All-Americans at every stop on his coaching journey, and helping athletes continue their careers at the collegiate level.

In just two years as head coach for the Lakers, Meyer has quickly demonstrated his ability to guide student athletes to victory on the mat and get the most out of the athletes under his tutelage. Both seasons under his guidance, the Laker produced All-Americans, sent a strong contingent to the National Tournament, finished in the top 25 in the country, and supported student-athletes in being awarded National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) Scholar All-Americans.   "We are excited to have Corey as our Head Wrestling Coach at Iowa Lakes. He has a great passion for wrestling and significant experience recruiting the right type of student-athletes. He has been successful at every stop of his coaching career, including at Iowa Lakes. He understands community colleges and what it takes to be successful. Our wrestling program will flourish under Corey's leadership," explained Troy Larson, Athletic Director.

Before taking over the Laker Wrestling program, he was an assistant at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. Coach Meyer focused on technique development, individual workouts, recruiting, and travel planning. Coach Meyer was instrumental in helping the Blugolds finish two successful seasons from 2021 to 2023 with titles at the Messiah Invitational, 8 Man Battles (2), Pete Wilson Invitational, Blithe Memorial Duals, and Budd Whitehill Duals. Additionally, the Blugolds had 13 All-American Scholars and 8 NCAA qualifiers. His leadership has earned him recognition as part of the Upper Midwest Regional Coaching Staff of the Year for the 2021-2022 season. While an Assistant Wrestling Coach at Iowa Lakes, Coach Meyer helped lead the Lakers to finish 12th, 7th, 13th, and 16th in the country, had 35 NJCAA qualifiers, 11 All-Americans, three national finalists, and one national champion.

Before stepping into coaching, Meyer was a standout athlete at UW-Whitewater. During his career, the Warhawks won five conference titles, four top-ten finishes at the National Tournament, including being National Runners-Up. Additionally, Meyer was awarded two NWCA Scholar All-American Honors. In addition to his collegiate career, he competed internationally in Bulgaria, Romania, and Turkey. His experience as a competitor fuels his coaching philosophy, which emphasizes hard work, accountability, and a growth mindset.

Coach Meyer received his Bachelor's in Special Education from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater in 2016 and a Master's in Education with an emphasis in Teacher Leadership from Upper Iowa University in 2020.
