August 27, 2025 | Estherville, IA. – The Iowa Lakes Community College volleyball team hosted No. 12 Iowa Central Community College on Wednesday night at Laker Gymnasium. The Lakers battled but ultimately fell in three sets, dropping the match by scores of 25-13, 25-15, and 25-8.

Iowa Lakes showed stretches of strong play against the nationally ranked Tritons, keeping rallies alive with solid defensive effort and consistent serve receive. However, Iowa Central's balanced attack and aggressive serving made it difficult for the Lakers to sustain momentum. Head coach Taylor Menzies said the match provided valuable experience early in the season.

"Iowa Central is a good team, and matches like this show us where we need to grow," Menzies said. "Serve receive was a bright spot for us, and if we continue to build on that foundation, we'll keep making strides as a team."

The Lakers will look to bounce back on the road against Southeastern Community College on September 3, 2025, at 7 pm.
