October 14, 2025 | Estherville, Iowa – The Iowa Lakes Community College volleyball team battled back for an impressive reverse sweep victory over Dakota State University JV on Monday afternoon, winning in five sets (22-25, 24-26, 25-23, 25-13, 15-12).
After falling behind 0-2, the Lakers found their rhythm and stormed back with dominant play on both sides of the ball. Sophomore middle hitter Kajsa Bates led the way with a standout performance, tallying a team-high 19 kills on a .472 hitting percentage while adding eight total blocks and a match-high 26 points.
Outside hitter Brooke White posted another strong effort with 17 kills and 11 digs, securing a double-double. Freshman Briana Cunnigan-Little added 12 kills and two blocks, while Aysia Heard contributed four kills and three blocks.
Setter Jaliyah McGee recorded a double-double of her own, dishing out 37 assists and collecting 12 digs, while Lorin Turkdogan anchored the back row with a team-high 25 digs. Lily Kunselman added 14 digs and was a force from the service line with seven aces.
Head Coach Taylor Menzies praised her team's determination and composure:
"I'm really proud of how the team responded after dropping the first two sets. They showed tremendous growth and fight, trusted each other, and finished the match strong to pull off the reverse sweep."
With the win, the Lakers improved to 9-19 overall and 2-6 in ICCAC play. Iowa Lakes will travel to face Southwestern Community College on Wednesday night at 7 p.m.
