Lakers Rally for Gritty 3–2 Conference Victory 

Sioux City, Iowa (October 23, 2025) – The Iowa Lakes Community College volleyball team battled through a hard-fought match on the road Thursday night, earning a five-set victory over Western Iowa Tech Community College. The Lakers rallied after dropping the opening set to win 18-25, 25-20, 25-17, 23-25, and 15-10. 

The win showcased the Lakers' resilience and depth, as multiple players made key contributions across the board. Brooke White led the charge with a team-high 16 kills, 17 digs, and 2 service aces for a strong all-around performance. Kajsa Bates added 8 kills on a .333 hitting percentage, along with 2 blocks and 2 aces. 

In the middle, Aysia Heard provided a big presence at the net with 6 kills and a team-leading 6 blocks. Briana Cunnigan-Little and Madison Conrad chipped in offensively with 9 and 3 kills, respectively, while both setters, Jaliyah McGee (21 assists, 7 digs) and Rylie Miller (18 assists, 9 digs), kept the offense balanced and efficient. 

Defensively, Lorin Turkdogan anchored the back row with a match-high 29 digs, and Lily Kunselman added 16 digs and 2 aces to help the Lakers control the serve-receive game. 

"I'm really proud of how the team responded after that first set," said Head Coach Taylor Menzies. "Different players stepped up in big moments, and we showed great composure and teamwork when the match was on the line." 

With the win, the Lakers improve to 11-20 overall and 4-7 in ICCAC conference play. Iowa Lakes will wrap up their regular season on Wednesday, October 29, traveling to face Ellsworth Community College at 6:30 p.m. before heading into postseason tournament play.
