Lakers go 2-1 through midweek series

The Lakers have had a busy week of games starting last Saturday. The lakers took the field on Monday against Buena Vista University JV and came away victorious 15-2. Freshmen Jace Embry and Johnny Marcos led the Lakers, Embry went 3-3 with 3 RBIs, and a solo homerun, Marcos went 3-4 with 3 RBIs. Sophomores Elkin Ortiz, Beau Dalian, Keyber Delgado (double), and freshman Carson Riggs (double) all added a hit. Riggs had 3 RBIs, Dalian had 1 RBI, and Delgado had 2 RBIs. Freshman Brady Manly got the start for the lakers and threw 5.0 innings allowing 2 hits, 2 runs,  2 earned runs, 6 walks, and 9 strikeouts. Freshman Matt Risser threw 2.0 innings and gave up no hits, no runs, and 2 strikeouts.

Moving to Tuesday's game, the Lakers traveled to Sioux Center to face Dordt University JV. The Lakers came out victorious again, winning 12-6. Freshman Boyd Jones (homerun) and Jace Embry led the Lakers with 3 hits and an RBI a piece. Sophomore Carter Snyder added 2 hits (double), and 2 RBIs, and freshman Carson Riggs added 2 hits (double) and 3 RBIs. Sophomores Elkin Ortiz, Joel Prpic and freshmen Johnny Marcos, Nick Ryun all added a hit a piece. Ortiz and Marcos had an RBI each, and Ryun added 2 RBIs. Sophomore Jake Dennis got the start for the Lakers, going 3.0 innings, and allowing 5 hits, 6 runs, 3 earned runs, 2 walks and 2 strikeouts. Freshman Adam Timm got the win going 6.0 innings allowing 5 hits, no runs, no earned runs, no walks, and 6 strikeouts.

On Wednesday, the Lakers traveled to Council Bluffs to take on Iowa Western, despite the Lakers hot bats, they came up short 4-18. Sophomore Elkin Ortiz (homerun) and freshman Nick Ryun had 2 hits. Freshmen Johnny Marcos, Jace Embry (double), Spencer Kober and sophomores Beau Dalian, Joel Prpic all had a hit. Ortiz and Embry had 2 RBIs each.

 

The Lakers have Thursday off and are back in action Friday April 18th at home against Indian Hills. First pitch is at 1:00pm.
