ESTHERVILLE, Iowa — The Iowa Lakes Dance Team proudly represented Iowa Lakes Community College at the 2026 Iowa State Dance Team Association (ISDTA) State Championship, held December 3–5 at the Casey's Center and EMC Expo Center in Des Moines. This year's championship marked the 50th Anniversary of ISDTA, commemorating five decades of elevating dance, drill team, and color guard throughout Iowa.
The Lakers delivered strong performances on the state floor, highlighted by bringing home 3rd place in the Pom category. Competing among the state's top collegiate programs.
"As we celebrate ISDTA's 50th anniversary, it was an honor to take the floor among so many talented programs and to contribute to such a historic year," said Danie Juhl, Iowa Lakes Head Dance Coach. "This team has pushed through challenges, shown tremendous growth, and represented Iowa Lakes with pride. Bringing home third in Pom is a testament to their work ethic, heart, and commitment to each other. I couldn't be more proud of them."
The ISDTA State Championship is one of the largest and longest-running events of its kind in the nation, bringing together high school and collegiate dance athletes for three days of high-energy performances and competition. Team competition categories include pom, hip hop, jazz, lyrical, contemporary, military, kick, hoopla, lights, novelty, prop, color guard, co-ed, and The M.I.X. Color Guard teams.
