As the 2021-2022 regular season comes to a close, the Lakers start their postseason as the #3 seed in the NJCAA Region XI-B Tournament. The Lakers will face the #5 seeded Northeast Hawks on May 6 at 4 PM in Cedar Rapids, IA.

The Lakers finished the season with a record of 36-10 on a 16 game winning streak.  Head Coach Katie King said, "The team has been playing really well entering the playoffs. The 16 game win streak that we are on has given this team the confidence and determination to win the regional tournament. Our side of the bracket is filled with very tough competition, but I am confident that if we play Laker softball that we will end up on the right side of things." 

The Lakers have had an impressive conference season with 7 ICCAC Athlete of the Week honors; Lexi Chase, Bryn Bohman, and Eliya Johnson, have all earned the honor twice and Alyssa Thorson has also been named Athlete of the Week.  As a team they have broken the Lakers' single season home run record with 77 so far with the previous record of 65 set in 2017.  Bohman has contributed 17 to set the record for a Laker freshman.  She is batting .490 with a slugging percentage of 1.098, and 50 hits.  Johnson is not far behind with 16 home runs of her own with a .382 batting average.  Chase is batting .542 with a .631 on base percentage.  She has 77 hits including 16 doubles, 1 triple, and 11 home runs.  Thorson is batting .446 with a .500 on base percentage.  She has 54 hits and 23 stolen bases on the season. 

In the circle, Chase leads the conference with 16 wins and only 3 losses.  She has an ERA of 2.10 with 108 strikeouts on the season.  Johnson is 13-6 with an ERA of 2.57 and 105 strikeouts. 

The winners of the NJCAA Regions XI-A and XI-B Tournaments will play the winners of the NJCAA North Plains A and B Districts with the winners competing at the NJCAA Division II National Tournament in Oxford, Alabama from May 24-28.
