Four Iowa Lakes Community College women's basketball athletes were named to the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) Division II Women's Basketball All-Region teams.
Jaeda Whitner and Rachel Puok were named to the ICCAC All-Region 2nd team, and Madison Hough and Rachel Breck were both named 3rd team.
Jaeda Whitner, a freshman guard from Mason City, IA, lead the team in scoring this season averaging 14.9 points per game, 4.3 assists per game, and 3.6 rebounds per game. Whitner also led the team in free throw percentage shooting 72.9% from the line. She finished the season with 299 total points in 20 games.
"Jaeda had a good year for us and could score the ball. She could score the ball at all three levels. She grew as a defender as the season progressed," commented Coach Martin.
Rachel Puok, a freshman guard from Des Moines, IA, finished the season averaging close to a double-double per game with 11.8 points per game and 7.5 rebounds per game. Puok's 151 total rebounds were the most on the team.
"Rachel really grew from the beginning to the end of the season. She was a match up nightmare for teams as she can shoot and get to the rim. Her rebounding really improved throughout the season," commented Coach Martin.
Madison Hough, a freshman shooting guard from Graettinger, IA, finished second in leading scoring on the team. Hough averaged 12.4 points per game and 3.4 rebounds per game.
"Madi had a great year for the Lakers. She grew so much as a player. She could really shoot the ball and was a big threat from the perimeter. Her defense really improved throughout the season. Excited to see her do great things at Briar Cliff," commented Coach Martin.
Rachel Breck, a freshman forward from Waseca, Mn, averaged 6.8 points per game and 6.5 points per game. Breck led the team in field goal percentage making 46% of all attempts.
"Rachel really improved this season. She was a tenacious defender for us all season. She would make things really difficult for the offense on the block. She improved so much on the block offensively and gained more confidence as the season progressed," commented Coach Martin.
The Lakers ended their season with an overall record of 8-12.
