On Wednesday afternoon, the Lakers took on Dakota County Technical College for the first round of regional play. Tessa Calabria put the Lakers on the board and started the goal scoring for the team within the first three minutes of the game. Two minutes later Madeleine Duncan snuck in behind Dakota County backline and found the back of the net to put the Lakers up 2-0. Before the first half finished, Sienna Scully and Calabria would each add a goal.

Half way through the second half, Calabria added her third goal of the game for her first hat trick of the season. Genesis Espinoza and the Lakers backline only allowed three shots on goal. Espinoza made three saves and picked up her fifth shut-out of the season.

With the 5-0 win, the Lakers advance to the semifinals of the Region XI Tournament in Des Moines against Iowa Western.

Coach Viedenkamp says, "I was pleased with how we played today. We passed the ball well and multiple players found the back of the net. We are excited to keep advancing in tournament play. Iowa Western is a very good and disciplined side. We will get back to work the next couple of days and be ready to play on Saturday."
